ABOUT COVID-19

General Information

COVID-19 is the disease caused by the new coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2. The WHO first learned of the existence of this new virus on December 31, 2019, when it was informed of a group of cases of "viral pneumonia" that had been declared in Wuhan, China.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, dry cough, and tiredness. Other less common symptoms that affect some patients include aches and pains, nasal congestion, headache, conjunctivitis, sore throat, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell, and skin rashes or color changes. on the fingers or toes. These symptoms are usually mild and start gradually. Some of the infected people have only very mild symptoms.

Dry Cough

Headache

Fever

Nasal Congestion

Fatigue

Diarrhea / Vomiting

Hand Washing

Hand washing is the simplest, simplest and most accessible way to avoid illness. By washing hands with soap, for at least 20 seconds, the contagion and spread of the virus can be avoided, as well as ensuring the health of the population.

Mask Use

Make wearing a mask a normal part of your interaction with other people. To be as effective as possible, it is essential to use, store, clean and dispose of the masks correctly.

Social Distance

GKeep at least 1 meter distance between you and other people to reduce your risk of infection when others cough, sneeze or speak. Keep an even greater distance between yourself and other people indoors. The greater the distance, the better.

COVID-19 TESTS

COVID-19

ANTIGEN TEST

This type of test detects protein material of the virus existing in its protective layer, that is, proteins that are part of the composition of the virus (also called “antigens”). Upon detection, it is presumed that the patient contracted the Sars CoV-2 virus and with it, may develop the COVID-19 disease as well as be a person capable of spreading the infection.

To perform the test, a completely sealed kit is used which contains a long swab with which a sample is taken from the nasopharynx, once the sample is collected, it is processed to identify the protein chains and determine the presence or absence of the Sars CoV virus. -two. The results that are delivered are qualitative, that is to say “Positive” or “Negative”.

COVID-19

PCR TEST

The PCR (Polymerasa Chain Reaction) test is the main test used to detect the Sars-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19 disease in humans.

This is a molecular biology laboratory test, the objective of which is to find genetic material of pathogens that can cause disease. Taking a small sample of organic material, it is potentiated and maximized, being able to identify if the genetic chain of the agent exists specifically.

The sample is taken with a nasopharyngeal exudate, where a long swab is introduced through the two nostrils (nostrils) to the throat and with a rotary motion a sample of nasal discharge is taken.

MOLECULAR LABORATORY

We are a laboratory specialized in molecular biology that detects genetic material of microorganisms that cause infections. We are the only laboratory dedicated exclusively to molecular biology tests for the detection of pathogens.
